The 1990s and the 1980s were nothing but periods of movement and great achievement for the EU. The EU has enlarged three times since its creation. Many people may argue why have a European Union? The answer is simple to create an ever closer union, to create political co-operation in Europe and European unity, to promote peace and a post national identity, so the world can live in a happier and more friendly environment without feuds and wars distressing the population.

The EU is a unique but economic and political partnership between 28 European countries that together cover nearly all the continent. The EU was first created after the Second World War. One of the first steps were to foster the economic co-operation meaning the idea being countries who trade with each other become economically combined creating a less amount of conflict.
