I am employed part-time as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in a Primary School in an area of high deprivation consisting of 164 pupils on roll with six classes; Foundation stage, two Key stage one classes and three mixed Key Stage two year groups. My role is split into four sub-roles and I have other roles and responsibilities assigned to me throughout the school. Nationally it seems to be common practice to deploy support staff and Teaching Assistants to roles that will improve childrens understanding, achievement and to meet focused learning targets of the school. My role is no exception and Im used where my strengths will meet these.
