On average, teachers in Milgrams study, administered 368 volts to learners, this decreased to 244 in variation 1 and 272 in variation 2 of the study. These figures suggest that the presence of the experimenter in a laboratory coat, an authority figure, leads to more people complying and showing obedience.
The percentage of teachers administering, maximum voltage, supports these findingsĀ that the presence of an authority figure, relates to people being more obedient, with 65% complying in the original study, decreasing drastically to 20% and 20.5% when the presence of an authority figure, is removed.
