Stimuli causes the senses to react and the receptors activate causing neurons to fire, yet somewhere along the line, the information disappears (Edgar, 2007). Questions arise of how is it that people are not capable of processing everything? There is an infinite amount of information surrounding people yet their brain is only of a finite size (Edgar, 2007). Kahneman (as cited in Edgar,2007) supports the notion that humans cannot process everything by means of using a hypothetical construct, known as the limited-capacity central processor and it is located within the brain.
