Describe the different ways in which identity is addressed by social identity theory and social constructionism.

All people have their own theory of themselves concerning their characteristic ways of attitudes and behaviours. In psychology this theory is defined by the term of identity. This essay will describe two different theories of identity, namely social identity theory and social constructionism theory which although in some way similar because both are based on social relations, they also differ in many ways. This essay will present a few of the main differences between them such as different approaches to the social and personal identity, different themes on which these two theories are focused and different methods of studying identity.
