In this essay we will look and examine the person centred and existential approach theories and therapies regarding fear and sadness. The purpose is to find and examine the key similarities and differences between these approaches. Similarly we will look at their possible benefits and limitations.
Person centred therapy is a non-scientific concept and has been developed by Carl Rogers. This approach is considered to be like an extension of a humanist psychotherapy and its very different from other therapies such as psychoanalysis which focuses on the unconscious mind and childhood fixations.
The person centred approach aims to encourage the person to explore and be aware of its feelings and emotions and bring them to conscious awareness without any intervention or advice from the therapist.
