The Mind’s Eye” by Oliver Sacks
Readings: “The Mind’s Eye” by Oliver Sacks, p. 303-317 or “When I Woke Up Tuesday Morning, It Was Friday” by Martha Stout, p. 381-398 “How To Tell a True War Story” by Tim O’Brien, p. 268-278
Project description
O’Brien, Stout and Sacks discuss various ways in which an individual constructs his or her world. Such a construction is far from simple or straightforward, however, and all three essays imply that the nature of reality is elusive and perhaps impossible to ever fully know. Relying on evidence from O’Brien’s essay and either Stout or Sacks’ essays to support your argument, write a paper answering the following question: How does an individual “know” what is real?
