In the reading this module/week, O’Brien discusses servant leadership within the complex healthcare setting. Many nurses within the text readings share their philosophies and perspectives of nursing from the servant leadership viewpoint. Some of these philosophies included patients, families, and colleagues.
For this assignment, suppose that you have just assumed the responsibility for one of the following roles: charge nurse, unit manager, nursing director, nursing supervisor or chief nursing officer. In a narrative describe what your role as a servant leader entails. Essentially, what makes you who you are, or “what fills your chalice” to be able to serve others? Provide examples and cite references to support your discussion points.
