History and Political Science
The reasons behind the 1980’s debit crisis.
Project description
Please base the research on the given document, and go further and beyond. DO NOT just state facts but argue and include opinion, and other scholar’s and academics and experts opinions.
• Comprehension. What is the question asking you and how are you going to answer it? Can you justify your research question – why is it a legitimate area of academic enquiry?
• Knowledge. Indicate broad and substantial knowledge of the topic area appropriate to senior level (go way beyond ‘core’ reading).
• Critical evaluation. Develop an independent argument, ‘voice’ and integrative analysis.
• Quality of writing. Write with clarity. Key to this is to draft, re-draft, re-draft, etc till its good.
• Nuances. Illustrate capacity to appraise the nuances of the literature with some sophistication.
• Structure. Develop a clearly structured argument and “sign-post” the essay, make it clear to reader what you are doing and why. Avoid vague sign-posting; use the sign-posting to demonstrate your core argument. So, in an essay on the impact of EU expansion on inward migration into Britain, you *should not* say stuff like, “In this essay, we will first review the literature on the impact of European migration, will then critically review it, and then come to conclusions about it”. Instead you want to *make an argument* such as, “The essay will consider this issue through three steps. Firstly, I will demonstrate that EU expansion has had a significant impact on the movement of people in the UK. Secondly, I will illustrate how this, contrary to the prevailing perception, has had a net economic benefit for the British economy” etc.
