“Part 1 Summary of the chapter by Draper and Duffy (2006) working with parents. (Word count 800) TMA 03 Part 2 How my work with parents ensures that I meet the diverse needs of children. (Word count 1222)”

In part 1 of TMA 03, I will be summarising the chapter by Draper and Duffy (2006) working with parents. In this chapter, they draw upon their work in Thomas Coram Childrens Centre in London. They look at the central importance of parents and practitioners working in partnership together in the early years settings. They also look at the benefits of working in partnership with parents. As well as summarising the chapter, my main focus will be on how Duffy and Draper implemented partnership into action at Thomas Coram.

Thomas Coram Childrens Centre

Here is a brief description of the centre.

It is in partnership between Camden Local Education Authority, Coram Family  a childrens charity and the Local Kings Cross Sure Start Programme.

It is part of Coram Community Campus, which houses a wide range of providers from the maintained and voluntary sectors.
