Introduction

The mathematical themes raised within the paper relate explicitly to the themes and powers within the core text and relate to the experiences both gained and observed throughout task completion.  I feel that the tasks discussed within this paper offered opportunity for key mathematical ideas and skills to be approached, allowing for development in the learners understanding through appropriate mathematical models and learning materials.

The tasks I have chosen are suitable for both lower attaining groups, and initial learners.  Both tasks have been tried on a Key Stage 3 student, aged 11 achieving a National Curriculum Level 4c.  Due to this I have chosen to analyse on the following tasks:
