I have recently supported a group of three children who are grouped as low ability within the year two class. Sarah is a six-year-old girl and has very low self-confidence and tends to crave only adult attention and conversation. She has poor concentration skills and needs redirecting throughout the lesson. She has an IEP. Liam is a seven-year-old boy and also has an IEP. He sometimes lacks concentration and becomes bored very easily. However, once motivated especially with a lesson, which is his favorite; he works very hard and his language skills are improving all the time. Ryan is a six-year-old boy. He has a very short attention span and is distracted by background noises. He finds it difficult to focus and needs to be constantly motivated. He also has an IEP.
