Creating Social Justice
Six “program assignments”
(50 points each)
Due at the beginning of class on each scheduled due date (see syllabus)
Each assignment will be typed, double spaced and 2-3 pages long. Each will:
1) Identify a specific organization, program or practice designed to address the particular justice issue in each corresponding assigned reading set (community/school, individual, pretrial, incarceration, reentry, and community restoration)
2) Describe their specific goals or objectives
3) Describe the structure of the organization, program or practice (how it is set up, who are founders/members
4) Identify the participants
5) Describe the process, procedures, tactics used to meet the goals or objectives
6) Present examples of success, failure, or issues related to the organization, program or practice
7) Discuss your thoughts regarding this effort at creating social justice
You may use information form the course readings, websites, personal experiences, or conversations with members of organizations, programs or practices in your assignments. Please cite all information sources. Cite books with authors’ names, title, year of publication and page numbers. List all websites used. Cite individuals by name, organization, and title.
