The purpose of this assignment is to critically evaluate a critical care incident, using Christopher Johns model of reflection. The author aims to promote discussion and reflection of a personal experience that took place whilst in practice. In order to guide this essay, Johns (2004) model of structured reflection will be used and the model critically analysed. The author will compare and contrast this with other models. In writing up this reflection, the use of both the first person and the third person will be used as when writing a reflective account it is better to write in the first person (Webb 2002;1992, Hamill,1999).

Johns model uses Carpers fundamental ways of knowing (1978), Platzer et al (1997) identify this as strength within the model, as Johns is one of the few models of reflection that refers to the development of an epistemological base to reflection….(short extract)
