Instructions: Put together an online portfolio containing the following items:
(Note: all written summaries, essays, or captions should be typewritten and double- spaced as Word files, pdf or Rich text).
Include links or web addresses for sources used or items required. If you have trouble creating this online or need to scan parts of it and do not have a scanner available, it will also be acceptable to bring the portfolio with you to the final exam for submission. Those taking their final exam with an off-campus proctor need to send the project online or else mail it early enough so that it reaches me by the first day of finals.
I. A one-page summary of a recent US Supreme Court decision relating to the interpretation of a part of the United States Constitution, excluding the Bill of Rights; OR a one-page summary of the judicial career of one of the sitting justices of the United States Supreme court, including the major cases on constitutional interpretation that justice has been involved with.
II. An original proposal (meaning, a proposal that you yourself came up with, not one you found on the internet, in a book, magazine, or newspaper, etc.) for a federal law, a US Constitutional Amendment, or a federal regulation, with a brief essay ( 1-2 pages) on how you might get it adopted. Think not just about the technical procedure that might be involved, but about the politics of getting votes or support for your proposal.
III. A brief summary (half-page to a page in length) of a recent US Supreme Court decision relating to civil rights or civil liberties. 9 pts.

Four newspaper clippings including the following: one letter to the editor on a federal issue; one public opinion poll on a federal issue; one routine story relating to a federal issue or government agency or official; one political column relating to a federal issue or campaign. Include short summaries of the main topic, theme, or conclusion.
