Thesis:
1- Amy tan shows the tension between mothers and daughters and how mothers want the best for their daughters. However, it was kind of hard for Jag mi to acclimate with it because they have recently moved from china to America. Also, her mother believed that she could live the American dream.

2- In the story “Two Kinds” Jing mei is struggling with her mother because her mother wants her to become a prodigy. Jing mei had pressure which made her look for her identity and feel kind of lost and pawned.
