Overview
This assignment is an analysis of the impact of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement on various stakeholders in Canada.
Content Requirements:
Basing your work on research on existing patterns of trade and on factor proportions, identify six (6) industries in which Canada holds a comparative advantage and six (6) industries in which the EU holds a comparative advantage. Use empirical data to support your conclusions;
Using the Technical Summary as your source, and using the twelve industries identified in Part 1 as examples, identify the impact that CETA will have on patterns of trade (levels of exports and imports) and on specialization in Canada;
Based on your answer to question #2 (above), identify the “winners” and “losers” of the agreement (for Canada only). Explain your answer.
Choose ONE winner and ONE loser from your answer to question #3. Using information available on the Internet, identify the opinions of each related to the CETA. Is the opinion of each consistent with your predictions in question #3? Support your answer with examples.
Your paper must reflect a thorough understanding of the concepts introduced in Weeks 1 & 2, corresponding to Chapters 1 to 5 in the Pugel text.
