To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade
You work as an intern at a small restaurant consulting business. The owner employs five restaurant consultants in addition to herself. Each business consultant has his or her own desktop computer that is not networked. All of the computers use Windows 7 as the operating system. The owner would like to know if she should upgrade the operating system to Windows 8 for the business. The consultants primarily use their computers for the following tasks:
• Track time and expenses.
• Prepare new menu proposals for clients.
• Cost food inputs for new menu recipes.
• Design new restaurant layouts using a CAD/CAM program.

ASSIGNMENT:
You must create a Summary Report and List of Questions for the Client by doing the following:
SUMMARY REPORT:
• Research the new features of Windows 8 as compared to Windows 7. Prepare a brief summary of the main points that the owner would be interested in knowing about Windows 8.
• Research the following categories of computers for cost, weight, and size: desktop, laptop, netbook, and mobile Internet device (MID). Create a table comparing these characteristics by computer type and add it to your summary under the heading “Hardware “Suggestions”

• Prepare a list of questions you would ask or facts you would gather in order to analyze whether the owner should upgrade or not. Include any questions you have about new technologies.
• Next to each question or fact, explain why you need to investigate the item.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Submit your report and list of questions in APA format.
• As you write your report, keep in mind of what the employees are using their computers for. Focus your response to what is currently happening in the office. Are the advantages of either operating system beneficial to the employees? Why?
