1. Introduction: In post-graduate study, students are expected to have necessary skills and knowledge in ensuring the research undertaken in-line with the quality and standard guidelines of the university. Formal learning, such as classroom learning has been the primary pedagogy generally. However, learning beyond the classroom, for example through experience and learning ‘out-sides the box’ are now becoming popular within the pedagogical methodology.
Field trip training represents a creative teaching method that takes students out of the familiar class environment and allows them to experience new things. As in the case of post-graduate students, this would foster them to explore other environment or university which having similar field of study and could become good learning tools for the students.
Whilst the student learn by observing their surrounding and participating in educational activities, field trip training could bridge them to the other side and build their own unique social networks within the new setting. They also have the opportunity to bond with their counterparts in graduate studies in a more relaxed atmosphere.
2. Objectives: The objectives of the field trip training are as follows:
• To tap on hands-on experience from other university and unit on how they manage their project and research;
• To strengthen solidarity amongst the post-graduate students;
• To build a platform of dialogue for post-graduate students from both universities in sharing their challenges and success in research; and
• To build networks with external faculty whom share the similar field of studies
3. Field trip training location: LSE University London
4. Field trip training date: 13 October till 16 October 2014
8. Publicity: The purpose of publicity is to raise awareness and community involvement for social issues. We aim to build a real-time and open platform for knowledge sharing via university/faculty website pages and Facebook pages. The proposed training program will be promoted through local and regional networks.
9. Conclusion: Many international and self sponsored students are involved in this program and it is currently not being supported financially by any. Around 15Pax are involved therefore we hope the proposal would grant consent from (Respective Airline CEO) since the outreach program could generate a holistic individual students that not only good in conducting research but to be able to enhance their experiences and expand the beneficial of social networks beyond university setting. Moreover, the program is seen could bridge two universities in future collaboration not limited to research, but many more initiatives in future within the academia realm.
Pls add benefit to the sponsoring company like: This is a school focusing study on empowering women in the country. It will be a great CSR project and added value story to be share in their corporate magazine.
