TOPIC: Imagine that you are a social scientist investigating one of the case studies that we have studied in class. These were:
Case Study 1 Racism in Australia
Case Study 2 The Relevance of Social Class in Contemporary Australia;
Case Study 3 Explaining Crime;
Case Study 4 Inequality and Interpreting its Implications and Meanings;
Case Study 5 Welfare and Disadvantage;
Case Study 6 Trust in Politicians and Engagement with the Political System.

• Create a research question that relates to this case study area; explain why this research question is important (for example, why your case study area needs to be investigated in this way)
• Provide a literature review relevant to that case study area and research question
• Explain what method or methods (i.e. interviews, surveys, observation/ethnography) you would use to study this research question, exploring its/their strengths and weaknesses; in order to do this, it might help to look at some research articles that use particular methods to study your case study area.
• 4.Conclude with a discussion of what you feel that your answer to the research question might contribute to our understanding of your case study area.

Literature Review: there is clear evidence of thoughtful connection to some of the research, and it is guided by your research question (40%)
Method: is clearly and concisely explained; and strengths and weaknesses addressed (20%)
Conclusion: the potential contribution of your proposed study is clearly explained and justified (10%)
Expression/grammar and referencing: the written expression is clear and grammatically correct; spelling and punctuation are correct ; the essay is correctly referenced and the bibliography correct (10%)
