BOOK REVIEW

In order to complete this course, you are required to complete two book reviews. The two
books will be assigned by the professor and are required.

Students are required to read two books in addition to their assigned texts. An book review is
to be written for each book. These reviews are to be five (5) pages in length, typed, double-spaced
with a font no larger than 12.

In the review, you are to state what the author’s thesis is. You are then to cite specific
examples from the book that you feel best back up the author’s thesis. Finally, do you believe the
author’s thesis, why or why not.

Your reviews are to be 5 pages long. They are to be typed, double spaced with a font no
larger than 12. Any direct quotes taken from the author’s work are to be cited by page number.
Failure to cite is plagiarism and will result in a failing grade.

GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A BOOK REVIEW

At the top of the first page, place your name, class and time of meeting

In your first paragraph, state the author’s thesis

Describe the evidence presented to support the thesis

Assess the evidence that is presented. Is it convincing, clearly written, ect.

Close with your own overall assessment of the author’s work.

These reviews are to be submitted via the drop box no later than 11:3opm on the due date. Early
submissions are encouraged. No Late Papers will be accepted.
