Priming Theory Analysis

Priming Theory Analysis
The aim of my paper is to use the Priming Theory in regards to violence, specifically regarding violent video games and violent media. The priming theory creates cognitive pathways a as a result of exposure to repeated stimulation that eventually influences behavior. How effective is priming? How effective is priming in relation to violent video games? Considering the desensitization of my generation, perhaps priming within violent video games is no longer a concern. On the contrary, has priming, through violent media, created increased aggression within my generation. Furthermore, does this increase in violent media affect people in the same ways? Will people with a tendency for violence react to priming stimuli in the same way that non-violent people will? What are the effects of this?

Begin with an attention getter and preview of the paper with a thesis statement. If you are making a factual claim, you must cite a source giving credibility to the claim. Summarize studies from academic journal articles to get more in-depth about the theory and its applications. Each article should have a literature review that summarizes past research on the topic. Make sure you cite your source every time. Do not simply place a citation at the end the paragraph. Let the reader know right away whose work you are referencing. Relate the study findings or issues discussed by the authors of the article to a specific example in today’s media environment that was not already referenced in one of the articles you used. Critique the theory. For example, discuss the positives and/or limitations of the theory and/or how the theory could be expanded to include any novel factors in your example. End with an overall summary of the paper and a strong closing statement about the theory or study of the theory.

You must follow APA styleguide when citing sources. All sources must be cited to avoid plagiarism and bolster your credibility/make your case. Identify articles only by the last name(s) of the author(s) and the year of publication. DO NOT include the title of the article, the name of the journal, or the title/affiliation of the author(s). ? Write in the active voice. Avoid writing in second person, “you” or vague uses of “we.” No need to add a cover page, running head, or abstract. You must, however, include a separate Reference page at the end.
