question below. The purpose of the assignment is to assess the understanding of the course material covered during Section 1 of the

course. As such, students should refer to, and cite, only material covered in the readings and lectures.

Question: Section 1 of the course examined the following theoretical frameworks: Realism, Institutionalism, Liberalism, Marxism,

Constructivism, American Exceptionalism, Isolationism, Internationalism and Neo-Conservatism.
Choose any two of these frameworks and compare and contrast their relevance to American foreign policy. What are the key assumptions of

the two chosen frameworks? How valid are these assumptions? Are these frameworks useful for explaining American foreign policy?
