Paint Pot Party Presentation PowerPoint Script
Group Intro:
we are the Paint Pot Party group. We are here to talk to you about our business idea, how we came to decide on it, and how we will communicate to our customers and collaborators.
I am Rosie ? a dance artist, singer, and producer. This is Nathan who is a budding entrepreneur and business man with an interest in the arts and design, and Jet ? a philosopher and blossoming photographer. As a group of creative practitioners, who participate in the arts regularly, we wanted to form an idea that reflected our interests and creative ideas.

Paint Pot Party:
So after discussing various ideas for the arts business project, including art therapy, a music magazine, and the ?what will I do” forum, we all decided to work together on the paint pot party idea. The idea is to create a party, this particular one for students, where they can come together to socialise, listen to music, drink, and paint freely. We would hold this arts party event for students in Newcastle, for all students and not just those in the arts. This would be a fun, messy, and entertaining night, where everyone is free to be creative.

Paint Jam:
Paint Jam London is an innovative art company based in London who provide themed arts parties to a wide range of people. They run inspiring arts workshops and events, show art works, feature artists, and sell art and prints. This company has a very similar idea to us and we used it to inform our own.

What we have decided to do:

We have decided to create a party in Newcastle, possibly at the NewBridge Project, or Commercial Union House, where there are spare, blank, arts spaces to be used. We want to market this event to all students in Newcastle, but we think those interested in the arts are more likely to get involved. We would need to buy arts supplies, hire the venue, book a DJ, set up a bar/or bring alcohol, and any advertising. We would sell tickets to this event at an affordable price for students. Another way to get people involved and to generate income would be to sell arts products such as prints of work create, postcards, etc. and we could hold a competition with a grand prize.

Marketing and communications:
To communicate with our audience and collaborators, we would create a logo, a poster/flyer, a social media, videos for YouTube, vine, etc., we would use word of mouth, possibly advertise through the student union and newspaper, and email or visit our collaborators in a professional manner to communicate the idea.

Logo ? (explain various ideas we had) We needed the logo to create something recognisable that represented our idea and our brand.

Poster/Flyer ? creating these would allow us to advertise the event to many students. We could stand outside of university buildings handing them out and talking to people, encouraging them to come along.
Social Media ? This is another easy way of connecting with our specific target market. We would form a Facebook event group and invite all of our student friends in Newcastle, hoping they would invite others. There could also be a link to this event page on the Newcastle University Freshers page, so that new students are informed too.

Videos ? We would attempt to make a video to advertise the party. We would have to set up a similar setting in order to portray the party in the video. We considered creating a short video appropriate for Vine and YouTube, which would include shots of a night club or bar with drinking, dancing, and socialising, shots of an arts studio with people painting, and then throughout the two images would merge to create the arts party scene. We would have flashes of information about the time and place during the video, and our logo at the end.
Word of Mouth ? We would talk to students at university and friends to promote the event, this goes hand in hand with the distribution of flyers.

Student Union and newspaper ? We could have the event advertised by the student union or the university newspaper in order to create a higher awareness. Maybe this would be a good option if we chose to hold the party as a fresher activity.
Communication with collaborators ? We would approach organisations in person and use the existing contacts we know there to negotiate deals on space and supplies etc. We would be very professional in manner. We would also send emails to check up along the process.

SWOT ? explain strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (See slides)
How to use the platforms and when?
Freshers week would be a good time to hold this event and get lots of students involved, mainly because everyone wants to go out to meet new people, do new things, they have more time available, and this party is a good alternative to the usual club nights.

The Party:
(Explain what happens at the party and how we get everyone involved) (See slide)
(Encouraging people to participate, competition, selling prints)

Conclusion:
The Plan ? recap
How to communicate ? Recap
What we have learnt ? We have learnt about all the varying platforms for communication and marketing throughout the project, and how to use these in accordance to our event and idea. We have practiced our entrepreneurial approach to a small business venture. And we have worked as a team to develop ideas.
We have recognised the time we had to work on this project was short and we were not able to realise the event in the space of time. We tried our best to develop the idea and understand communication channels and we all think we could use this knowledge in the future.

We have also seen that there is a market for this idea and we could build upon the paint pot party idea to create a business which offers various arts parties at demand, whether it is for students, children, hen dos, those in business organisations, or charities. There could also be varying themes including a tea party, an evening dinner party, a day event, freestyle club themed, etc.
To market this expanded business we would create a website and business cards to hand out when networking, or holding other party events.

Website ? (show webpage and explain need) This page would be accessible to many, would show customers exactly what we could do (including photos, videos, and customer feedback), and customers could book a party of their choice online.

Business card ? (show and explain need) This card would be a professional looking way to promote the business and bring awareness to the brand.
