This is a scientific critique, not a movie review. You will be reviewing the accuracy of both the biology and the anthropology in this film, not its writing or editing. Consider these prompts for analysis:
Anatomy: are the hominins depicted accurately, based on your knowledge of anatomically modern humans and Neaderthals?
Behavior: are the hominins depicted accurately in how they behave, from what we know about them from archaeological sites? How about the social structure of the group as discussed (hint: consider El Sidron as a source for that) And how about diet, is it depicted accurately?
Preservation: does it make sense that the site would be well-preserved anough to analyze it with this level of thoroughness? What would keep the remains from being in this state of preservation and what would preserve the context?
What are the conclusions here that are based on fact that are presented, and what are conclusions are conjecture? Please discuss those, the difference between fact and opinion.
Analyze the behaviors of the humans (the scientists) … are they behaving in a territorial manner? Do you see primate behaviors expressed in their more human variations?
