Part #5
High School Focus (Grades 10-12)– specific topic is (Nutrition)
Now Part #5 will focus on the high school grade level. You are to complete the following table, being very specific and detailed.
Column #1: Standard: You are to list each standard going down, starting with #1 and all through to #8. You are to think about this age group and how you can meet each standard within a classroom.
Column #2: Objective: For each standard, you are to provide a classroom objective for that standard. Make sure that you use verbs in your objective that correlate with not only this age group, but with what students in high school would be able to successfully complete.
Column #3: Activity: This is where you describe the activity in detail that you will have in your class that will work to meet the objective.
Column #4: Assessment: This is the assessment that will be used to show that the objective will be met. For this assignment, at least one assessment must be a Graphic Organizer that the students complete. This is a great way to practice putting together graphic organizers (GO’s) for your classroom discussions. If you have not used GO’s before, there are many websites with great examples: www.enchantedlearning.com/graphicorganizers/ ; www.graphic.org/goindex.html ; www.eduplace.com/graphicorganizer/ ; and www.ncrel.org
• Each GO must be age appropriate
• In the table you can just list the name of the GO; then following the table, or attached, provide two copies of the GO – one blank and one completed to show how you would use it.
