Project description
Clearly define the objectives of a viable project with guidance from the tutor
2.1 Organise into a series of manageable tasks.
3.1 Collect relevant information.
3.2 Successfully perform a variety of calculations.
3.3 Use mathematical language and notational appropriately.
3.4 Use diagrams, tables and graphs as appropriate.
3.5 Monitor and make adjustments as necessary.
4.1 Reason logically and concisely using appropriate mathematical language.
5.1 Clearly state conclusions
5.2 Critically examine and comment on the outcomes of the project.

Word count Guideline: 1000 words collectively for the assessment criterion:
1.1 – 5.2

• There is one assignment. Please word process your answers any note preparation will need to be scanned and uploaded to your dashboard or posted.

• You must complete a plan to discuss with your tutor to ensure you are on the right track
• Map your answers to match the above assessment criteria 1.1 – 5.1
Please use the word processor and if you decide to draw illustrations you will need to scan and upload them to your file or post them with a copy of your signed Declaration.
Assessment

For this assignment you will need to know about averages, range and graphical representations. These are covered in the Data Handling and Algebra or you can also find the information in any GCSE text book
The following guidelines are associated with this assignment.
You are completing a study which includes collecting relevant information that can show a variety of different calculations. It will contain diagrams including a table and a graph and will demonstrate the use of mathematical language. You are looking at the geometric consistencies in measurements of the body.
You will need to collect data from 10 participants of the same age range i.e. if you are 26 years old, ask people of approximately your age.
Take a note of the measurements from each participant:
• (a) Measure from the tip of the index finger to where the wrist starts.
• (b) Ask the participant for their shoe size.

You will then plot these two measurements on a graph. Place (a) on the Y axis and (b) on the X axis. When you have completed this, look to see if there is any pattern on the graph which could indicate a relationship between the two measurements.
The assignment should be presented using the following structure (manageable tasks) (2.1, 3.3)):
*Title (2.1)
*Table of contents (2.1)
*Abstract (approximately 50 words)(2.1)
*Introduction (approximately 300 words)(2.1, 3.1)
*Aims (2.1, 1.1)
*Hypotheses (2.1)
*Method (approximately 250 words)(2.1, 3.5).
*Design: the research design is a correlation, as you are looking at the relationship between two existing measurements that you have no control over. Hand size and Foot size.
*Participants (2.1)
*Apparatus / materials (2.1)
*Standardised procedure(2.1, 4.1)

Your submission is eligible for marking if you have met the criterion above and forwarded the declaration to confirm you have not plagiarised in your submission.
Your work should indicate where you have covered the different assessment criterion: To assure a cross check of further quality with regards to submission of assessments please identify within the body of your assessment the assessment criteria that is being met. This should then correspond with your assessment criteria sheet above. The most appropriate way to do this is to write the criteria number next to the paragraphs and in the margin where you feel you have met the criteria.
Please make sure that all work is referenced using the Harvard referencing system. All submissions have to be uploaded to your dashboard
