Indifference

Indifference–Many individuals around the world find reading to be boring and even a waste of time; however, reading expands one’s mind. Likewise, writing expands one’s mind and allows the possibility of his or her voice to be heard. Still, many do not pursue active positions in the world or even their lives; many do not continue to expand their minds. Too many people are inclined to sit back and watch the world move around them, even though there are many atrocities taking place worldwide. Consider the saying that if an individual does nothing to stop a wrongdoing, he or she is just as guilty as the one who committed the crime. Even with this well-known saying, many are still considered to be indifferent to the world’s problems. As mature individuals, when does it become one’s responsibility to speak out and change the world around him or her? Why has the world fallen into a state of indifference, or has it always been this way? Why is it important to continue expanding one’s mind throughout his or her lifetime? In what ways could this problem be helped? Remember, simply saying people should read and write more probably won’t get anyone reading and writing more.!
