HRM310 – Developing Human Resources
Task
Identify a particular human resource development (HRD) need for an organisation, and develop a human resource development program package to address that need.
Parameters:
The target audience for your program package are those leaders and managers who would have decision-making power over whether to actually proceed to implement your program package or not.
You are requested to select an organisation in which you are currently involved, or one in which you were involved previously. If you have no previous involvement with any organisation, then you are permitted to select an organisation where you would like to be involved in your future career.
You are not permitted to use the same need that you selected for the training provider in assessment item 2, although it can be one of the other needs that was identified in your needs assessment conducted for that assessment item.
The human resource development need that you select can be any need that might support a group of employees or members of an organisation/association in relation to any of the following weekly topics 10 – 14 from the subject:
• Technology in Human Resource Development
• Onboarding, Orientation and Induction in HRD
• Coaching, Shadowing and Mentoring in HRD
• Career and Performance Management in HRD
• Leadership and Management Development in HRD
You are not required to conduct a needs analysis. It will be assumed that this has been done.
An example human resource development program type might include (please choose only one of these):
• A Training program covering a particular technology or topic from the above list
• An Onboarding, Orientation or Induction program
• A Coaching, Shadowing or Mentoring program
• A Career Development or Performance Management program
• A Leadership and Management Development program
Rationale
This assessment builds from weekly topics studied earlier in the subject and in previous assessments. It also utilises weekly topics 10-14 from later in the subject.
It seeks to build your capacity and support your ability to:
– identify, discuss and apply appropriate learning theories in the design, assessment and evaluation of human resource development programs
– plan the implementation of a human resource development program for an individual and/or organisational context
Presentation
Your program plan should include the use of tables, and/or diagrams, and/or images, and/or figures, in order to effectively replicate normal business-context documentation, and also in order to effectively engage the reader.
Section headings are required to be clear throughout.
This assessment item can be submitted as a word document or as a PDF.
Requirements
Your assessment submission needs to include/cover the following sections:
Organisation
• description of the organisation that has the need
Staff Cohort or Business Area
• overview of the particular cohort of staff or business area who have the need
Human Resource Development Need
• outline of the particular human resource development need
Program Objectives
• identification of the human resource development program objectives (3 are sufficient)
Program Design
• indication of the design / features of the program, including some details or examples/samples
Program Schedule
• table format schedule indicating how long the actual program will take to complete, and what the program participants and organisational stakeholders are doing during which parts of the program.
Resources
• detail of the resources required to develop / operate the program
Learning Technologies
• specific overview of the learning technologies (if any) that are being used in the program and how they are being used
Subject Theory
• specific discussion of the subject theories or concepts used in the program, and how they are integrated to support specific aspects of the program approach
Program Assessment
• specific explanation of how participant success will be assessed during the program, and after the program in terms of outcomes (please include a sample assessment form here)
Program Evaluation
• specific description of how the success of the program will be evaluated (please include a sample evaluation form here)
Implementation Plan
• specific indication of how long it will take to develop and implement the program (e.g. dates in a tabled format)
Reference Section
• any references should be listed here in APA format as usual
