how HRM applies in the SME

how HRM applies in the SME
Project description
This report is significant piece of work that requires a minimum of 10 unique sources of information and is to be 1500-2000 words in length (excluding reference list and direct quotes). Ensure your information is contemporary (no more than 2 years old in most cases), high quality (don’t cite random web pages unless the source is very well known) and very relevant to small businesses in the context of your location (Australia, Malaysia, Mauritius etc). Your report will take into account the backbone principle you will learn about (that every decision is a trade-off between cashflow and benefit at start-up). Therefore your report must conclude with a set of implementation recommendations of the likely cost (be specific-state the $ value) of your recommendations. Remember to focus your research, writing and advice on things that will improve a start-up business plan. Give more detail, context and currency, additional/better/newer ways to do this that are suitable for a start-up.
You should also ensure your research is global, multicultural and mindful of local context of the scenario. Example: It may well be the case that in America employees in professional careers are very individualistic and extrinsically motivated (hence financial rewards dominate), but is that also true of the focal community that your business will start in (rural WA, Miri, Mauritius…)?
Additional information
• Shows how HRM applies in the SME
• Use Chicago 16th for both in-text and end-text referencing
• Use the business idea provided to you to start your research (hopefully it helps, if not try to create some ideas and explain why)
• Expected that the report will display evidence and attributes of societal, social and environmental responsibility (i.e. the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, Profit.).
• The information written in the report has to be credible and shows the attraction why the employees wanted to work for the business (e.g. Safety policies and other policies)
• HRM (employee hired, contract or full time employed and include sponsors and show why they are interested in the business)
• Risk management get the template online (find yourself)
My business idea
A body boarding school that teaches only body boarding in a suburb of Western Australia, Trigg. The business is a service base, so there are no any other products selling in this business. The business does 3 ways of revenue: competition fees, tuition fees, and photographer fees. The is an office nearby in Trigg. We are going to hire a certain amount of people to help on our business (you can think of a number of people needed). The employees that needed are professional coaches, lifeguards, photographers, office workers and other employees.
For marketing, operating management, financial statement and legal issues (put in some of your ideas).

Small Business Plan ‘Checklist’
The components/concepts listed below are all requirements of a superb business plan. You do not need to have every component checked off to submit your plan but every component can and will add weight to your mark. There are also things which are not on this list which you can do to lift the quality and impact of your plan so please take this as a guide only. You will note that there is even scope in the marking rubric for us to award bonuses for extra stuff that we were not expecting, if it adds value to your plan. Also remember that you should NOT reuse any phrases (strings of more than 3 words) from your individual student reports but many of the ideas (and references) will transfer across, so your ref list is usually a lot deeper and better informed than the bare minimums required in the UO. Typically you will have to do more marketing research to bolster your marketing section than you did just to come up with the idea (extra research justifying segmentation, prices, demand, location and competitor analysis). It is expected that there will be lots of new refs, details and ideas in the plan that were not in the original proposal or even in your individual reports, since not all topics are covered by every group.
1. DON’T forget to re-read ‘maximising your grade’
2. Ensure you have re-aligned the personal goals with the plan as it has unfolded.
3. What’s your USP now? IF it has changed don’t assume we get it, spell it out. ONLY bring forward your old STEP research if it supports your idea.
4. Have you taken some controversial but well-articulated creative stands that show you are not afraid to challenge the dominant logic, without being silly?
5. Don’t make your USP about product assortment (doing more things than your competitors) or a simple claim of quality vs price.
6. Where’s your competitor analysis? Has it identified characteristics that only you have or at least only a few competitors have, is it in a nice easy to read table comparison?
7. Are your segmentation and pricing strategies explained and in synch with your promotional strategy?
8. Your promotional strategy is it realistically costed and do you have ways to monitor effectiveness built in?
9. Do you have a separate budget for start-up expenditure and a separate promotional campaign for start-up?
10. Do not reproduce Porters model in your plan but when describing your USP, be sure to indicate any advantages across Porters model.
11. Do not bother with a SWOT analysis unless you have particular strengths we need to be made aware of.
12. Have you estimated your ROI (as per the GMO exercise), GP and NP and found a way to compare it with similar businesses (benchmarks)?
13. Do you have 2 years of financials listing assumptions made? For a chance at really top mark, have you also created a worst case scenario that still works as well as the probable one?
14. Do you have a discussion of the location of your business, more than geographic location? IE zoning, other businesses, access, compliments, competitors…
15. Has your primary data (discussions with experts) been clearly identified in the plan as a Pers Coms list? (i.e. who they are and why they are worth listening to-their qualifications)
16. Where can I identify the creative content of your plan-highlight your creative content to the reader since there is a score in the template for this.
17. Backbone: Have you carefully matched predictions about sales and expenses in the marketing and operations sections with the numbers in the cashflow and salesmix forecasts?
18. Do your spreadsheets show seasonality, variability and growth?
19. Is your exec summary short (1 page) yet still identifies all of the really good stuff, does it compel an investor to read more with the lure of good and safe returns?
20. Have you included job descriptions and estimates of total employment cost that show you understand the on costs of employing, do these inc
