You should take every opportunity to graphically represent the information where possible, although take care to explain to the reader where required. This will aide readability and enhance communication of the plan. Commence with an introduction, stating the marketing objective/s of the plan (this is the previously identified opportunity). Be as specific, detailed and measureable as possible (you will need to explain in a later section, how you will decide whether the objective/s has/have been achieved). Briefly discuss how the opportunity fits with the company?s overall mission and current business portfolio.
Define, describe and elaborate on the target market/s. Consider all aspects related to them, for example, culture, demographics, consumer behaviours and industry structure where relevant.
Elaborate on all aspects of each of the elements of the marketing mix strategy linking to customer needs.
Consider and elaborate on positioning.
Elaborate on the strategic fit between the company?s capabilities, resources and opportunity being exploited.
Create a brief implementation/ action plan with timeline.
Outline measurement ? determination of achievement of objective – and control strategies to be employed.
