Introduction – 700 words
It Should be focus on the main idea of Justice of: Rawls, Nozick, Amartya Sen: thus there must be an introductory of there main idea, contrasting each others theory and it should also specify what the essay would be about. Pay particular attention to identify there main conception of Justice and to answer the question which will be provided afterwards as an attachment
Main Body – 3 Theorist – Aim to evaluate what is morally arbitary about Rawls theory using 2 other theorist as well as to critique there theory and give examples(to show understanding)
Rawls – 2100 – You Should explain his theory i.e. 1) basic structure of a “well ordered society” / the role of justice 2) the subject of justice (major institutions and the way they distribute fundamental rights and duties and determine the division of advantages) 3) the main idea of justice and how it differs from other contractarian theorist (locke,kant etc) original contract v original position and explain the the veil of ignorance 4) Institutions and formal justice 5) explain/apply the two principles – > Sources to use a) His original book (a theory of justice) Chapter 1 -> Justice as fairness (pg 3-15) and Chapter 2 – The principles of justice (pg 47-56) another book for interpreting him i.e. Rawls Explained from fairness to Utopia and 2 More Journals (i ll try and attach some i think proper but you should extend your researcher as you think proper )
Sen – 1600 Again you should explain his basic principles and then focus on explaining how Sen proposes that the concept of Rawls is morally arbitrary – Sources: The original book “The idea of Justice” Chapters, Introduction: an approach to justice pp 1-27, Chapter 9 Plurality of Impartial Reasons pp 194-207 and The Practice of Democracy pp 338-354.+ 3 Journals On Sen
Nozick – 600 Words Focus on explaining how nozick argues that the principles of justice of Rawls are morally arbitrary i.e. desert, self ownership – Anarchy, State and Utopia, Robert Nozick Chapter 1, pp 4 -22, pp 88-118
