• Understanding topics relating to technology systems that enable decision making
• Undertake a study how these are implemented in an organization/department known to you
• Create a prototype of a simple business intelligence systems using Excel

For this project you will work in your groups.This project will be evaluated in a report to your instructor.

Report Requirements
Information Systems enable decision making . In this context write a report identifying the role of technology in helping with the decision making process. Create a prototype of a solution using Excel using sample data from an organization known to you
This report must be written nd must be based on an organization that you work for or are very familiar with.
Section 1 –Report on Organization and Decision Making Process
1. Summary of the organization/department, its products and services and core business activities.
2. Management structure and examples of decisions made by each level. This information must be specific to the selected organization/department. Use a diagram to illustrate this section.
3. Decision Making Process explained with ONE example that is relevant to your organization. Use a diagram to illustrate this section. Refer to page number 487
4. Discuss business value of decisions and impact of good and bad decisions on organizations
Section 2 – Study of Systems for supporting decision making
5. Short definition of ONE of the following systems used to support decision making: MIS/DSS/ESS
6. Describe how the selected system is used in your organization
7. What is the software/technology used? How does it fit into the the other ERP systems used in the organization. Describe the inputs and outputs to this process.
8. How effective is this technology? Discuss gaps or shortcomings
Section 3 – Sample prototype of a simple dashboard in Excel using Pivot tables and Charts
Note: Excel Sheet must be submitted with this report. Without the excel sheet, this section will be not receive a pass grade.
9. Sample data tables relating to ONE of the following functions exported to Excel ( around 100 rows of date covering a reasonable time frame
