Assignment #2- Rhetorical Analysis

Assignment #2- Rhetorical Analysis
For your next essay, you must analyze and evaluate an argument
about a subject in your field.
First, search online until you find an article that expresses the
author’s opinion about a topic that is relevant to your interests.

op-ed piece on student debt strikes:

though, that your goal is NOT to discuss whether you agree with
the author, but whether the author delivered his/her argument
effectively.
Organize your thoughts in any way that makes sense. However,
your analysis must include…
An objective summary of the author’s argument,
background, and intended audience
A thesis statement where you concisely explain how
you feel about the author’s effectiveness in proving his
argument
A discussion of the various rhetorical appeals your
author makes, and how those appeals affect his/her
overall goals
Consideration of other rhetorical strategies, including
stylistic techniques, that your author is using
Analysis of any logical fallacies or flaws in reasoning
present in the author’s argument
A conclusion where you use the information you’ve
gathered to assess the author’s argument as a whole
A short Works Cited page. You must include in-text
citations and a references page on all your essays.
Papers without citations receive an auto F You may
