The target organisation and its industry: You may target your organisation for the analysis and in most cases this is the preferred option , however it is sometimes the case that students might prefer to choose another option. If you do choose to target an organisation and industry other than ‘your own’ you will not be disadvantaged in any way.
The Task:
You must complete a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the target organisations external environment and an in-depth analysis of the target organisations resources, capabilities and competitive position.
Students must use the analytical process described in the course. Topics two and three of the course provides a range of well-defined concepts and analytical tools which seek to answer seven specific questions in relation to the external analysis. Topic four of the course provides similar structure to effect the resource, capability and competiveness analysis. I have also provided a series of worksheets which will help students to tease out the required information.
Assignment one is highly structured with a view to creating a substantive in depth analysis of both the organisation and its environment. The information and conclusions drawn from your assignment one analysis will provide the ground work for you to effectively tackle assignment two of the course.
You cannot change target organisations for assignment two!
