The short report
(a) For pages to be standards compliant, pages use clean and logical HTML or XHTML for marking up content and using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for presentation.
XHTML 1.0 strict and CSS 2.1 increase the chances of reaching a larger audience and If the pages are compliant with said standards then the site displays correctly in all current and many obsolete browsers (crouchharbour, 2014).
If the pages are built using the correct standards then the code validates with W3C standards who are the main standards organization (crouchharbour, 2014). Their objective is to develop and revise standards that are intended to address usability needs, for example physical ability (w3, 2010).
