This excerpt shows a hospital role-play activity with a teaching assistant that enters the role-play area mid flow of the children playing. The area is arranged with a collapsible, wooden hospital with a door and is cornered away from the rest of the classroom with a fence. Inside there is a range of doctors equipment, a writing area, dressing up clothes, alphabet mats on the floor, dolls and teddies. There is a small group of children acting out roles with fantasy play.
When the teaching assistant enters she acts out a role of playing a patient bringing her toy into the hospital; she bends down to the childrens level as she speaks to them.
