The tremendous growth of data availability through various media strengthens the need to transform data into information and useful
knowledge. The increasing complexity of the problems and opportunities facing businesses calls for relevant information. Thus, a shift in
emphasis from information gathering to information processing is essential. Analytical decision making processes are an important link in
making these needed transformations.
BMGT 3370 is designed to introduce you to basic business research and statistical procedures. This course is the first in a sequence of Two
“Quantitative” classes. The skills and knowledge gained will be used in BMGT 3371.
Quality research and solid analytical thinking are required when developing integrated solutions to many of business’s toughest problems.
Students must learn to solve quantitative models and interpret their results. In addition, students will be asked to make efficient
decisions, based on their analysis, and effectively communicate the results
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To introduce the student to the research process and statistical methods utilized in business.
2. To illustrate the applicability and use of these concepts in a diversity of fields for both service and manufacturing environments.
3. To describe the development of analytical tools and their relationship to managerial problems. This course will focus on managerial
decision making and how scientific methodology can be used to enhance decisions.

5. To gain insight into complexities of today’s managerial decisions.
