Question 1 – Emotions are spontaneous physiological and psychological responses to the world around us. Although there are agreed upon labels for the range of different emotions people feel, such as sorrow and joy, they are subjective and can be elicited by a variety of different experiences and the behaviours associated with them can be different from one person to another.
Emotions are important to us as they serve a purpose in many socialisation processes as well as helping to guide behaviour.
