For the research project, your goal is to go beyond a simple policy claim and compose a work that attempts to answer a question broader in scope than solving a policy problem. For example, rather than attempting to persuade readers that a law should be enacted to prevent automobile drivers from using cell phones while operating their vehicles, you might research why so many in our society seem unable to disconnect from their phones, or why many seem to prefer communicating through technology rather than engage in face-to-face interaction. The claim for your essay should be argumentative in nature and directly address your research question/issue in a clear thesis statement that is then supported with research throughout. In addition, your supporting texts should come from a variety of disciplines. A minimum of five to eight scholarly sources should be used in this assignment. Sources should come from the library’s databases.
