Our culture is one that has always been somewhat intertwined with violence. Since the start of our history (slavery) physical punishment was always uses as a controlling or regulatory factor. Slave masters beat their slaves  this was legal; and slaves beat their children  because of the former. Even our religion encourages physical punishment. But, it doesnt stop there our history is not only limited to physical punishment but also embraces very violent times. For example; the genocide of the Tinos  brutal slayings of our indigenous people by allowing them to be hunted like animals by dogs and on horses.
