The implementation of the Education Reform Act 1988 (ERA) was both a complicated and controversial step by the government, as it would appear, to Re-affirm Christian values in our schools. As with many acts of parliament it was met with some trepidation and scepticism. It can be seen clearly in literature from around the time and after the ERA was implemented that there were many fears that the ERA may fail due to a lack of provisions to support and maintain its prominence in the education System. So, now that we are over a decade on from the Education Reform Acts initial launch back in 1988, it should be easy to pin down exactly what the main problems that were found in the acts provisions and discuss whether or not they hindered its implementation….(short extract)
