The Contemporary Hospitality Industry
The Purpose of this assignment is to gain an understanding of the nature and diversity of hospitality and its constituent industries, including the range of job roles and employment possibilities.
There are four learning outcomes to this unit:
1. Understand the current structure of the hospitality industry
2. Understand staffing in the hospitality industry
3. Understand recent developments affecting hospitality
4. Be able to recognise potentials trends and developments in hospitality
The brief will be a formal report which will describe the current state of the hospitality industry then develop an analysis of trends affecting the industry.
To succeed in this unit, you are required follow the assessment criteria.
Your report should demonstrate your understanding of how your research links coherently to these aspects of the Contemporary Hospitality Industry. Your assignment should include evidence of your research with references. This includes linking research coherently to your writing and using referencing (Harvard model), such as bibliography, citing and quotes.

2000-2500 for task A.
1000-1500 for task B
Task A Research report describing the hospitality industry
Carry out research into the Contemporary Hospitality Industry. Using your research, produce a written report of your findings which should includes:
a) An analysis of the structure of the hospitality industry (ref. 1.1, 1.2)
b) A review of the organisations and professional bodies in the hospitality industry (ref. 1.3)
c) An evaluation of the staffing structure and their responsibilities (ref. 2.1, 2.2)
d) An analysis of the current image of the industry (ref. 3.2)
Task B Review of recent development
Provide a written account demonstrating your understanding of the changes affecting the Contemporary Hospitality Industry. It should provide an insight on the:
a) Variety of issues affecting the industry (ref. 3.1)
b) Justification and critical analysis for future trends (ref. 4.1, 4.2)
