This essay will detail the historical background to how Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.) has evolved and discuss what inclusion means.  In particular it will seek to address the effects of early identification of SEN, focusing particularly on consequences for the child, the family and wider society.  Discussion will also take place evaluating current legislation and how this applies to a variety of disabilities.  Reference will also be made to personal practice.
