In recent times, development managers are faced with challenges in promoting participation in initiatives to help solve issues affecting Belfast travellers. These challenges makes it difficult to implement any initiative because development managers can influence it but cannot change it if the people are not ready for a change and dont find anything wrong with their ways of life. Travellers and settlers have their own preconceived ideas about each other which influence their ways of judgment even when using lens to address the problem. These challenges include, time, literacy (education), self-esteem (participation skills), internal division within the travelers, and lack of interest from the wider society.
