Abstract

Attachment is an ongoing, strong emotional bond between two people. There are two key assumptions in attachment is that the individual tends to have characteristic styles in relationships that are reflected in the way they behave towards other. These styles have their origins in their previous relationships as infants with their caregiver. (Wood et al. 2007) This qualitative study using thematic analysis aims to show that the findings of the semi structured interview of separation and attachment support Bowlbys (1940) theory of attachment. It also showed that the individual can change and improve, overcoming the difficult times in his or her childhood.
