Introduction
Briefly describe the life cycle of a typical fern, and in a following paragraph, note also the importance of the fact that fern gametophytes are “alga-like” and produce swimming sperms(review the appropriate paragraphs above, which address this issue). This answer must be at least 250 words in length.

Materials and methods
1. Include a photograph of a fern that you were able to identify, both common name and scientific name (once you have either name, use the internet to find the other). You might have to go to a nursery (the plants are labeled), or maybe look for a common and easily recognizable species, like the sword fern or the Australian Tree Fern in a landscaped area somewhere (like the SBCC campus or your neighborhood). The common name and scientific name should be written on a card and placed in the photograph (along with your standard information card that you are required to put in your photos).

2. Include a photograph (as close as possible while still being in focus), of the underside of the leaf to show sori. If the specimen you are looking at is sterile, chose another species that is fertile (with sori).

Important note about your photos: Put a card in each photo with your name, plant codename (password), and Lab 8 written on it, in English. No card in the photo, no points. Adding your name, etc. to your photos in Photoshop is not acceptable, they have to be hand-written cards, actually in the photographs.
