Write an essay in which you explain the philosophical view that Leibniz is expressing in the following quotation . “Each substance is like a world apart, independent of all other things, except for God”
and “this would never fail, and it would happen to me regardless, even if everything outside of me were destroyed, provided there remained only God and me.” (Leibniz, Philosophical Essays, 47)Then evaluate that view in the context of Leibniz’s broader metaphysical theory. How does this doctrine fit with Leibniz’s other metaphysical claims. Is Leibniz entitled to this doctrine? If so, why? If not, why not?
