DISCUSSION TOPIC: PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Explain how different personality traits may affect the use of social media (Facebook, Instagram,
Snapchat, etc…). For example, would an individual high on anxiety be more or less prone to
using social media, and in which contexts? Or, would an extravert reveal more information about
himself or herself compared with an introvert? (These are just examples! You are welcome to
use your own). Focus on the five-factor (Big Five) model of personality. Provide examples of
situations or contexts in which one’s personality traits affect their social media persona and
behaviors.
To support your arguments, use at least 2 peer-reviewed articles. Use of your textbook is
optional.
