Identity of place refers to the locations of a city, region or town and their meanings in relation to how people; live, socialise, work, and establish themselves in them whether it is in a city or the countryside. When we look at how and what people define themselves as we take a look and explore the many aspects that create our individual identity and how people are excluded by these aspects. Peoples identity is given by their similarities and differences, it is also imperative that we look at the elements of identity and these elements can be based upon their characteristics of; race, gender, age, ethnicity, class and place. Identities can be given out of place (Stephanie Taylor, 2009, p.175).
